Are Christians facing a possible extinction in Northern Iraq and Syria? Are we seeing signs of Holocaust, all over again, against the Christians in these regions?
For weeks now, there have been terror in the Christendom, especially for those living in the Northern region of Iraq and in Syria. According to Catholic Online, Christians, who lived in these regions almost 600 years before Islamic region arrived in these regions, and who have co-habited with Muslims for almost 2000 years, are now facing near extinction because of cruel treatment the Islamic State in these countries are giving the Christians. Christians have been warned to by the Iraqi and Syrian Islamic States to either "flee, convert, pay a fine, or be put to death" (Catholic Online, 2014). Personally, this is upsetting and confusing at the same time because these views, clearly do not represent that of the worldwide standards of Islam. Islam, as I have been taught, represents peace however, acts such as these towards Christians go against the very foundations of the religion. Moreover, it is these kinds of instances that influences ill treatment and judgment of the entire Islamic population worldwide, as people assume that this is the norm of the whole Islamic population.
This is a recent post from the Catholic Online expressing their disappointment and call for help to help resolve these issues.
