In the context of doing something for religious purposes that others don't understand, it is true that many people on the other side will lash out and ask, "Why?". Is it the duty of the followers to explain what they are doing and why they are doing it? Or, would that detract from the time of doing the act themselves.
It seems that it doesn't work if some religions explain what they are doing and others don't. It may lead to skepticism against those who don't explain. But, they may just be using that extra time to do those religious practices...
