Choice

   There is choice in religion. The choice of how to worship ones god (s).The choice however is individual and often times stays hidden and locked away in that individuals mind. The most likely reason for hiding that choice is because every religion has a set of spoken and unspoken rules that are supposed to dictate how you worship and celebrate your god(s). However choice is also a strange word and for Muslims "choice is understood not to be an expression of one's will but something one excercises in following the prescribed path to becoming a better Muslim," (p.85). For many in the West this seems almost a violation of ones individual freedom because choice tends to mean that it is ones will, but choice and freedom are different. Choice is restricted by how you choose to use your freedom. Choice also involves sin. If one behaves unknowingly a certain way that can be seen as sinful then it's not them making the choice to sin it's those around them, those who follow the same religion. "Among the mosque participants, a persons failure to enact a virtue successfully is perceived to be the maker of an inadequately formed self, one in which the interiority and extenriority of the person are improperly aligned," (p.164).
